Corporate Governance of UK Financial Institutions 2010
The British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark, Nordic Capital Markets Forum and Copenhagen Business School, invite you to an event which will highlight the latest developments in Corporate Governance of the UK financial sector. The Walker Review has made recommendations which will also give "food for thought" to the authorities and Boards of financial institutions in Denmark and other Nordic countries.
Sir David Walker, who led an independent review of corporate governance in the UK banking industry which delivered recommendations in November 2009, is currently a senior adviser to the US bank Morgan Stanley, having resigned his previous role in 2005 as Chairman of Morgan Stanley International with executive responsibility for the bank's activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sir David graduated from Queens' College, Cambridge with a double first in Economics and his 48-year career has spanned both the public and private sectors in and around the City of London. He had previously held the position of Assistant Secretary at the Treasury (1974-77) and several key posts at the Bank of England where, in 1981, he became one of four executive directors of the bank. From 1988 to 1992, he was Chairman of the Securities and Investment board, a predecessor to the current financial regulator the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
